58 years ago TODAY, we got our first look at “just one more thing” when “Columbo” debuted with the TV movie “Prescription: Murder” in 1968!

Peter Falk played Columbo as we were introduced to the formula that would make the detective famous: we see the murder first, we watch the killer get cocky, and then we get to enjoy the world’s most persistent detective taking them apart piece by piece. After another TV movie, the regular show would debut in September of the same year.
