Guardians of the Galaxy, despite a dubious past of sci-fi franchises doing it wrong, took the bold step of releasing a holiday special. And like most things Guardians, it's really entertaining.
Not only that, but hype is building for the third and final film in the Guardians trilogy.

The recent debut of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special reminded us of that other marketing tool — err, holiday special — from a beloved sci-fi franchise. That’s right, it’s the perfect time of the year to melt your eyeballs all over again with The Star Wars Holiday Special.
You have to appreciate the boldness of whoever thought it was a good idea to develop an hour-and-a-half-long sitcom with a family of incomprehensibly murmuring Wookiees and sell it to all the newly minted Star Wars fans out there.
If nothing else, revisiting The Star Wars Holiday Special will give you a new appreciation for even your very least favorite Star Wars movie or TV series in existence. Consider it a Christmas blessing!
