Were you an early adopter when email came out? Did you nab the username that's just your first initial and last name, without even needing to add some random number at the end? Do you still use one of the original email providers, like Yahoo! or Hotmail?

Even if you answered yes to all of those questions, you still can't hold a stick to the first ever piece of electronic mail sent — which, believe it or not, took place in the early '70s.

In what was a major milestone for what would become the internet, surely the author understood the gravity of the moment and wrote something worthy of the occasion. Right?
