The banana split was invented in 1904 by a 23-year-old apprentice pharmacist because, apparently, pharmacies used to be way more fun. Three scoops, multiple toppings, whipped cream, nuts, cherries, and a ceremonial banana split right down the middle like some kind of dessert ritual. Remember, if your ice cream order is stacked tall enough to belong in a cartoon, you're doing it right.
