40 years ago TODAY, Mary Tyler Moore went back to the newsroom when her sitcom "Mary" premiered on CBS in 1985!

Set at a second-rate Chicago tabloid, the show followed divorced fashion writer Mary Brenner as she rebooted her career writing a consumer "Helpline" column, trading glossy layouts for shady landlords, bad products, and a bullpen full of cranks and cynics. Its thirteen-episode run (with the first two episodes directed by Danny DeVito!) gave MTM fans one more round of workplace banter and soft-focus reinvention.
