Happy National Chocolate Candy Day!

Nerdy Trivia: December 28, 2024

Only chocolate could make us feel accomplished for eating an entire bag of sugar while convincing ourselves they don't count because they're "fun size." Sure, all chocolate is good chocolate, but we all know those mini Twix bars hit different at midnight when you're raiding the candy stash. Worth every wrapper crinkle!

Update from Nerd HQ:

Hey everyone, pull up a chair while I eat a slice of humble pie! In yesterday's trivia email, we asked "What is the longest-running scripted TV show?" We had originally planned "What is the longest-running TV sitcom?" and when we changed the question, we tripped on our shoelaces and fell face first into a new answer without even realizing it!

"General Hospital" began airing on April 1, 1963, and is still going strong, making it the longest-running American scripted TV show in history. For 60 years and over 15,000 episodes, they've been keeping viewers guessing about who's secretly whose father and which characters might come back from the dead this week. (Though I should mention "Guiding Light" had a longer overall run if you count its radio days - 72 years of drama!)

We've fixed the question now to specifically ask about primetime programming, but we definitely needed to own up to this mix-up. Look at it this way, I've now got something in common with soap opera characters: we both make dramatic mistakes!

(And thanks to those who pointed out my error. I'm off to see if "General Hospital" needs any new amnesia patients...)
