58 years ago TODAY, a wall of joke doors swung open when "Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In" premiered on NBC in 1968!

Hosted by Dan Rowan and Dick Martin, the show blasted through rapid-fire blackout gags, bikini-clad joke walls, and cocktail-party chaos, turning Goldie Hawn, Lily Tomlin, Ruth Buzzi, and Arte Johnson into stars while catchphrases like “Sock it to me,” “Verrry interesting,” and “Here come da judge” took over the playground. With politicians popping in for punchlines and its anything-goes pace topping the ratings and snagging Emmys, it pretty much rewired what a TV comedy hour could look like.
