47 years ago TODAY, a couple of good ol’ boys started jumping an orange muscle car over every cop in town when "The Dukes of Hazzard" premiered on CBS in 1979!

Set in Hazzard County, the show followed cousins Bo and Luke Duke running moonshine-adjacent errands, outfoxing Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane and Boss Hogg with dirt-road chases, horn-honking freeze-frames, and just enough “yee-haw” to shake the living room. With Daisy Duke at the bar, Uncle Jesse on the porch, and a new car jump basically every week, it became a defining Friday-night show for late-70s and early-80s TV kids.
