Retro Rewind: On This Day

53 years ago TODAY, a runty pig and a very determined spider spun one of the sweetest tearjerkers in animation when "Charlotte's Web" opened in theaters in 1973!
Based on E.B. White’s book, the film follows Wilbur from farm to barn, where Charlotte hatches a plan to save him from becoming dinner by weaving messages into her web. Hanna-Barbera’s animation, songs like "Zuckerman’s Famous Pig" and "Mother Earth and Father Time," and years of TV airings and VHS rewatches turned it into a comfort movie that entire generations grew up sniffling through.
