48 years ago TODAY, Burt Reynolds put on the pads and the mustache charm when “Semi-Tough” hit theaters in 1977! Playing pro baller Billy Clyde Puckett alongside Kris Kristofferson and Jill Clayburgh, the movie sold itself as a football comedy but had that very 1977 twist of roasting self-help/cult-y movements while running a love triangle through it.
