The tubes at McDonald's PlayPlace always smelled like a combination of feet, old Happy Meal toys, and regret, but kids treated them like five-star vacation destinations. Kids would disappear into those tunnels for 45 minutes and emerge looking like they'd survived some kind of quest. Parents got exactly one meal of peace before having to physically extract their screaming child from a foam pit they refused to leave.
