Happy National Savings Day!

Putting money in a piggy bank as a kid was the ultimate commitment because smashing that ceramic pig to get your coins back felt like some ancient sacrifice for loose change. Modern savings accounts don't require any pig violence, but they're way less satisfying. Plus, you could shake the pig and hear your fortune, which was the childhood version of checking your bank balance.

How many species of beaver are currently alive?

Beavers are hands down the most extra animals on the planet. These paddle-tailed engineers have been reshaping North American waterways like they've been playing SimCity for millions of years. They've got orange teeth that grow nonstop, can stay underwater for 15 minutes without coming up for air, and when they're pissed off they slap the water so everyone knows. How many species of beaver currently exist?

Retro Rewind: On This Day

46 years ago TODAY, Fleetwood Mac traded polish for a primal stomp when the double album “Tusk” arrived in 1979! The follow-up to “Rumours,” it leaned into Lindsey Buckingham’s scrappier experiments and home-brewed textures. The title track marched in with the USC band and hit the Top 10, and “Sara” soared right after. The album reached number one in the U.K. and the top five in the U.S. Once knocked as a comedown from “Rumours,” it’s now celebrated as an audacious pivot that helped clear a lane for art-pop and indie rock.
