Silent movie actors had to emote with their entire bodies because whispering sweet nothings wasn't an option, and watching them flail around dramatically is weirdly mesmerizing. I'm glad we were able to figure out how to get audio onto film, but sometimes I like the idea of the random piano player deciding whether your romantic scene got jazzy ragtime or a funeral dirge.
