Question

What was the name of Bud Light’s dog mascot?

Correct Answer: Spuds MacKenzie

Spuds MacKenzie became the "Original Party Animal" in 1987 during Super Bowl XXI, wearing sunglasses and hanging out at parties that made every frat house jealous. The real dog behind the character was a female dog named Honey Tree Evil Eye, which is an incredible name and one Bud Light should've kept in the ads. But executives thought a male dog would sell more beer, and that audiences wouldn't know the difference. The campaign was a huge success until parent groups started complaining that a cute dog was being used to sell alcohol to young people. Senator Strom Thurmond brought a stuffed animal version of the dog into the halls of Congress while warning of how irresponsible the campaign was. Anheuser-Busch quietly retired the character in 1989, though they claimed it was a creative decision and definitely not because politicians were waving dog toys around Congress.
