Dr. Emmett Brown said he chose the DeLorean as a time machine because if you’re going to build a time machine into a car, you may as well do it in style, right?

For a mad genius, isn’t that a terrible idea? Would you want to drive something that looks out of place no matter what time period you’re in? Then there’s the fact that it’s got all those crazy wires and cables on it to make it even more conspicuous. Not exactly the kind of thing you’d want if you were trying to keep it a secret, don’t you think?

Then there’s the license plate problem. Not only did he bother to get one for it, which again makes the car trackable by police, but he even made it a vanity plate. Come on, Doc, get your head in the game!

Doc is so confident the first test of the time machine will work that he forces Marty to stand right in the path of the oncoming car before it flashes into the future, leaving only burning tire tracks and the spinning plate behind. Remember what it said?
