The film represented breakouts for multiple young actors and put director John Landis in a deserved spotlight that would allow him to go forward and dominate the '80s.
But more so, it served as the quintessential college comedy, essentially defining the genre. The evil dean hellbent on expelling the ragtag bunch of misfits who just want to party and have a good time comes from this 1978 classic.
