What movie isn’t a franchise these days? Even a movie about buff dudes driving cars is able to last long enough to get over 10 movies before it’s done. Can’t we just have one good movie and leave it at that? Seriously, I don’t think there’s a single franchise that has more than three films in it that hasn’t gone down the drain in terms of quality.
Of course, no one listens to me and we still lap up the latest sequel with whatever familiar name the studios pump out every few years. The longer a franchise goes on, the harder it is to die. There are even a handful of franchises that began before most of us were born and will probably continue on long after we die.
There’s one franchise that wears the crown for having the most movies of all time. You’ve no doubt heard about it even if you’ve never seen one of them, but can you name this legendary series?

Correct Answer: Godzilla
The answer is: Godzilla. The king of the monsters is also the king of the silver screen. Ever since that first black and white movie introduced the big lizard in 1954 we’ve seen Godzilla on screen no less than 38 times. You’d think we’d get the message about nuclear power being bad, but apparently not. Maybe that’s because it's too much fun watching Godzilla fight giant space dragons. Source
