I’m starting to suspect that Lee Majors wasn’t playing a completely fictional role when he portrayed the bionically enhanced Steve Austin in the iconic ‘70s sci-fi TV show, The Six Million Dollar Man. He’s well into his ‘80s and frankly looks like he could easily still spring into action, should we need him.

I mean, we have the technology, right? We could have rebuilt him. Just as the Office of Scientific Intelligence (aka OSI) did for Austin, an astronaut who was critically injured during a test flight and then woke up with the ability to zoom in on things with his eyes, jump really high, punch through walls, and look damn good while doing it.

Apparently based on the stagflation economy of the 1970s, the goods and labor needed to build a bionic person ran about $6 million. But today that number would of course be higher. How much would it cost to rebuild Steve Austin in 2024?
