There's nothing worse than when TV shows try to milk a few more seasons out of a thinning plot as half the original cast leaves and by the time the finale airs no one notices. Honestly, it's rare for a show to go out on top — but I Love Lucy did exactly that.
Running for six seasons and 180 episodes from 1951 to 1957, I Love Lucy remains one of the most successful sitcoms — and TV shows period — of all time. And they went out in their final season as the number one show in the country.
Not to mention, it still brings in an audience of 40 million American viewers every single year via syndication. That's pretty damn impressive.
The show featured real-life couple and entertainers Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, with Ricky portraying a reasonably successful bandleader and singer. But that rascally Lucy is always scheming ways to break into showbiz, usually by finding some way to join her husband at the nightclub where he performs.
What's the name of that nightclub?
