35 years ago TODAY, an FBI trainee and a jailed cannibal rewired movie terror when “The Silence of the Lambs” was released in theaters in 1991!

It paired Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling with Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter, and turned a serial-killer hunt into a psychological duel that set the bar for every thriller that followed. It became one of 1991’s biggest hits, and went on to sweep the “Big Five” at the Oscars: Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Adapted Screenplay. And it's still the only horror film ever to win Best Picture.
