49 years ago TODAY, a warm welcome turned into a warning label when the Eagles released “Hotel California” as a single in 1977!

The Eagles turned Don Felder’s guitar sketch into a full-on Southern California fever dream, with Don Henley singing about limos, mirrored ceilings, and a place you can never quite leave, all building to that long, intertwined guitar solo from Felder and Joe Walsh that still makes air-guitarists feral. The track spent a week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy for Record of the Year.
