Nerdy Trivia: January 2, 2026

Happy National Science Fiction Day!

You can spend $15 and get instant access to the final frontier, galaxies far, far away, and worlds that don't even exist yet, which beats any travel package I've seen. Sure, we don't have the robot maids from "The Jetsons" yet, but we couldn't have even imagined really having iPhones when "Star Trek" first came out.
Daily Trivia
Who was originally hired as the voice of "The Twilight Zone"?

"The Twilight Zone" opens with Rod Serling inviting viewers into "a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man," which is pretty bold when most people can't explain the fourth one. Serling's original script referenced a sixth dimension, but that was a place beyond that which was known to Serling. Serling's correction and his own voice are dubbed over the first episode because he wasn't the original narrator. Who was originally hired as the voice of "The Twilight Zone"?

Cybill Shepherd played a semi-famous actress trying to stay afloat in a town that loves a new face, while Christine Baranski’s Maryann Thorpe stole scenes as the brutally honest ride-or-die with the funniest self-destructive streak on network TV. The show won the 1996 Golden Globe for Best TV Series (Musical or Comedy), Shepherd won Best Actress, and Baranski took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
