25 years ago TODAY, crime labs took over primetime when “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” premiered on CBS in 2000. Led by William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger, the series turned evidence into cliffhangers and became a ratings juggernaut, spawning “CSI: Miami,” “CSI: NY,” “CSI: Cyber,” and the 2021 revival “CSI: Vegas.” We've all been waiting for the day when we can enhance our photos as much as the forensic teams on TV.

It's hard to imagine any part of the world untouched by the global phenomenon known as Power Rangers. Even in the most remote settlements of the Amazon rainforest, I imagine kids (and probably some adults) running around and pretending to morph into their favorite ranger.
