Pizza and beer work so well together that it's sort of shocking there's no cave drawings of the combo right after we discovered fire.

Joan Rivers had spent decades clawing her way to the top of the comedy world, and by 1986 she was ready for the ultimate prize. A television network came calling with an offer to make her the first woman to host a late-night network talk show, giving her the chance to step out from behind anyone's shadow and claim her own spotlight. 52 years ago TODAY, Gladys Knight & the Pips pulled out of the station when they released “Imagination” on October 9, 1973. Its signature track, “Midnight Train to Georgia,” hit number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the R&B chart and won the 1974 Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus. The album kept rolling with “I’ve Got to Use My Imagination” and “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me,” both R&B chart toppers and Hot 100 Top 5 hits.

Inventing Atari is a pretty dang cool thing to do. Not only that, but Atari really ushered in the era of Silicon Valley as one of the first workplaces in the area to offer benefits like casual dress and kegs of beer on site.
