Nerdy Trivia: September 9, 2025

Those little 9x9 grids look innocent until you're staring at one box for twenty minutes trying to figure out if it needs a four or a six. The rules couldn't be simpler, but your brain still finds creative ways to mess up the most obvious placements. At least when you finally crack a tough puzzle, that moment of triumph makes all the eraser marks and crossed-out numbers totally worth it.

Back in the late 1980s, Sony was perfectly content being the company that made other people's gaming dreams come true. They supplied the sound chip for major consoles, ran a small video game studio called Sony Imagesoft, and had their fingers in all sorts of consumer electronics. But in 1988, a company approached them to co-develop a new gaming console that could use Sony's new Super Disc technology. What company did Sony originally partner with to create what would eventually become the PlayStation?

30 years ago TODAY, the "Kids' WB!" programming block debuted on The WB channel (how's that for a double throwback)! At launch, the block featured three shows produced by Steven Spielberg –"Animaniacs," "Pinky and the Brain," "Freakzoid!" It was also the home of late-millennial favorites like "Superman: The Animated Series," "Batman Beyond," and "What's New, Scooby-Doo?"

The Skywalker family will always be incredibly important to the Star Wars franchise. In addition to the first nine films, all centering on Skywalkers and those in their immediate orbit, Luke started it all. Go ahead and talk about the rich history of the Jedi — for most of us, Luke Skywalker was and always will be the first Jedi we ever knew. When he lit up his lightsaber for the first time in "A New Hope" (originally just "Star Wars"), we were all in for life.
