What is Muhammad Ali's birth name?

Muhammad Ali spent his early boxing career dancing around the ring picking up Olympic gold and shocked the world by beating Sonny Liston. But before he became the three-time heavyweight champion and changed the sport forever, those early medals and championship belts had a different name engraved on them. What is Muhammad Ali's birth name?
▼
Correct Answer: Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.
(Source)Muhammad Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., named after 19th-century abolitionist and politician Cassius Marcellus Clay. As Clay, he beat Liston in "The Greatest Fight in History" in 1964. It was only a few months later that he called his birth name a "slave name" and after converting to the Nation of Islam, chose the name he's since become known as. Promoters were slow to pick up on the new name, but by the time of his fight with Floyd Patterson at the end of 1965, everyone knew "The Greatest" belonged to Muhammad Ali now, not Cassius Clay.
