Which artist has the highest-grossing Las Vegas residency?

In the '80s, Cher called Las Vegas residencies an "elephant graveyard where talent goes to die." These days, the Strip is a full-blown cash machine, with U2, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry all planting flags in Sin City (even Cher went back in 2008). Which artist holds the record for the highest-grossing Las Vegas residency of all time?
▼
Correct Answer: Celine Dion
(Source)Las Vegas is arguably the most American city on Earth, so naturally a Canadian owns the place. Celine Dion's first residency, "A New Day...," sold out over 700 shows and grossed more than $385 million, more than the Rat Pack, Liberace and Elvis combined. She reinvented what a Vegas residency looked like, and I mean that literally because Caesars Palace spent $100 million building her the Colosseum theater as her performance hub. She returned for a second residency in 2011 that lasted eight years and became the second-highest-grossing residency, just in case you ever doubted who the queen of Vegas really was.
