A debut album is supposed to be your big introduction to the world. Labels spend months strategizing the best date to give you your best shot. So imagine being a brand new rock act, finally getting your first album out, and then discovering another promising band on your same label dropped their debut at the exact same time. Which two musical acts released their debut albums on the same day?

Correct Answer: Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith
(Source)I'm not totally sure what Columbia Records president Clive Davis was thinking in January 1973 when he decided to release both "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J." and "Aerosmith" on the same day. It was obvious which album he preferred, with the media mogul personally calling press to check out Springsteen's debut. Even worse, neither record made anybody a household name. It took Springsteen a few more albums before he'd be considered "The Boss," and Aerosmith had to wait until Columbia re-released "Dream On" in late 1975 before the song finally cracked the top 10. It was definitely a rough start for both acts, but Clive Davis played the long game and now he looks like a genius.
