Barry Manilow's "Copacabana" took the world by storm in 1978, spinning the tragic tale of Lola and Tony at the hottest nightclub around. The catchy disco track with its theatrical storyline became one of Manilow's biggest hits and earned him his only Grammy Award. Which city was Manilow in that sparked the idea for "Copacabana"?

Correct Answer: Rio de Janeiro
(Source)While the "the hottest spot north of Havana" might be a nightclub in Manhattan, the song wouldn't exist without Rio de Janeiro. Manilow and his writing partner Bruce Sussman were hanging out at the Copacabana Hotel in Brazil when they wondered if anyone had ever written a song called "Copacabana." After returning to the States, Manilow remembered his regular visits to the Copacabana nightclub in Manhattan during the 1960s and wrote the song in 15 minutes.
