57 years ago TODAY, a “computerized” sketch show short-circuited live on air when "Turn-On" premiered on ABC in 1969!

Fresh off "Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In," Digby Wolfe and George Schlatter created a series that ditched sets for an all-white backdrop and used Moog squiggles instead of a laugh track. When it went to commercial break, some affiliates decided a black screen with organ music was better than finishing the show, and on the West Coast some didn't air it at all. You won't be surprised to hear episode two didn't even air before ABC cancelled the show.
