51 years ago TODAY, a 25-year-old with a famous last name made her own case when "Inseparable" was released in 1975!

Producers Chuck Jackson and Marvin Yancy gave Natalie Cole a Chicago soul sound, and both "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" and the title track hit number one on the R&B chart. She could glide through a ballad or punch a hook with church-grade power. The album went gold, "This Will Be" won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, and Cole took Best New Artist at the 1976 ceremony.
