27 years ago TODAY, Woody's signature laugh was back on Saturday mornings when "The New Woody Woodpecker Show" premiered in 1999!

The redheaded troublemaker returned to Fox Kids with rotating shorts featuring Woody causing chaos, his niece Winnie holding her own, and Chilly Willy waddling through the snow. The series kept the fast, loud 1940s slapstick Walter Lantz built the character on, just with a late '90s coat of paint.
