Happy World Cat Day!

Evolution gave cats retractable claws, night vision, and lightning reflexes to hunt prey, but then humans showed up and turned these apex predators into couch ornaments. Cats adapted by figuring out that humans are complete suckers for anything that purrs and looks vaguely helpless, then spent thousands of years perfecting this manipulation. Ancient Egyptians worshiped cats as gods, and frankly, your cat still expects the same treatment.

Retro Rewind: On This Day

46 years ago TODAY, Marvel set its pages on fire when it published Uncanny X-Men No. 129 and launched the “Dark Phoenix Saga” in 1979! The issue itself was the first appearance of mutants Kitty Pryde, Emma Frost, and Sebastian Shaw. It was also the first time we saw the previously-only-mentioned Hellfire Club. The characters and events of both the single issue and the Dark Phoenix Saga overall are the building blocks of two movies: "X-Men: First Class" and "Dark Phoenix."
