In almost everyone's life, there comes a time when people stop giving you pre-peeled shrimp and expect you to do the work yourself. You grab a fork, go under the shell, and if you're a pro (like me), you get the "vein" and shell in one smooth motion. From there, it's easy sailing and ready to be dipped. But while you're prepping dinner, have you ever stopped to count their legs? How many legs does a shrimp even have?

Shrimp are rockin' 10 legs on seafloor, earning them the cool sounding title of decapod. It's a title they share with their fellow ocean bug cousins, lobsters and crabs. And like those crustaceans (and unlike us), those legs were not just made for walking. They're also made for cleaning and eating, which makes my ability to grab a sock with my feet sound much less impressive.
