Name the character: "I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat"

Warner Bros' Loony Tunes cartoons gave us endless quotable moments. While Bugs Bunny asked "What's up, Doc?" and Foghorn Leghorn never met a silence he couldn't fill, another star became famous for his mangled warnings. Which character was always sure that he spotted a puddy tat?

The answer is: Tweety Bird
Tweety Bird has been saying "I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat" for over 80 years, but that's about the only consistent thing about him. When he first debuted in 1942, he was a completely naked, pink bird. And while his famous line might've made him sound sweet and innocent, he was mean enough to make Sylvester look like a house pet. When he appeared in "A Tale of Two Kitties," he was terrorizing cats, not running from them.
Apparently, a featherless bird was just too scandalous for 1940s TV censors (though I've got to wonder what they'd make of modern cartoons). Warner Bros responded by quickly throwing some yellow feathers on him to make him more family-friendly. When animator Friz Freleng took over in 1947, he turned our tiny terror into the more loveable troublemaker we know today.
Mel Blanc, who voiced Tweety for over 40 years, turned the famous catchphrase into a novelty song in 1950 that somehow cracked the top ten on Billboard's pop chart. Two million copies sold of people basically listening to a baby bird warn about cats. The '50s were a strange time, folks.
