Which actress did Kirstie Alley replace on "Cheers"?

Kirstie Alley had big, weird shoes to fill when she joined season six of "Cheers." Her character, Rebecca Howe, came in with a new look and a new power dynamic that was a far cry from the co-star who left after winning a Lead Actress Comedy Emmy and who Ted Danson had grown to love. Which actress did Alley replace on "Cheers"?
▼
Correct Answer: Shelley Long
(Source)If we rewind to the pilot auditions, you'll find Ted Danson warning producers that Shelley Long was going to ruin the show. He was obviously wrong. Long was so important to the show that they filmed an alternate version of the season five finale just in case she changed her mind, but she never did. Alley ended up with a higher episode count than Long, and with her 1991 Emmy win, it's safe to say she filled those big, weird shoes.
