Products of the '80s presented marketing teams with some pretty interesting challenges — New Coke, Crystal Pepsi, Reebok Pumps, and Teddy Ruxpin come to mind as head-scratchers.
Some ad campaigns hit the mark, creating seismic, cultural moments. Others ... well, I mean, New Coke.

The answer is: Wendy's. It was in 1984 that an unassuming, elderly actress uttered three words that would spawn multiple sequel ads, a song, and would even be used by a presidential candidate:"Where's the beef?"Actress Clara Peller was 82 when she was cast alongside two other seniors to essentially throw shade at rival burger joints like Burger King and McDonald's. She was originally supposed to say, "Where is all the beef?", but found that too difficult due to emphysema. The phrase quickly became part of the cultural lexicon and persists to this day as a key piece of '80s lore. Clara passed away just a few years later in 1987.Source
