I remember the first time I heard the mythic Steve Jobs actually speak. Given all that I knew about him, I guess I expected some sort of booming voice that made you stop and weep with its brevity. Instead, he sounded like pretty much every other nerdy dude I’ve ever known.
But that certainly doesn’t take away from his genius and cultural impact. The products he helped develop literally changed society.
We of course know how he went on to lead companies like Pixar and Apple, but even the mighty Steve Jobs had to get a start in the working world somewhere. Did he just magically appear as an all-knowing executive, or did he have to start in the weeds like the rest of us?

Correct Answer: Hewlett-Packard
The answer is: Hewlett-Packard. Back in the before times, there was this thing called a phone book, which simply listed everyone’s phone number. It was like Google, but less filled with pop-up ads. Steve Jobs, at the age of 12 and living in Mountain View, California, used the phone book to call up Bill Hewlett — but not to ask for a job, simply looking for some spare electronics parts. Hewlett actually answered and was so impressed with Jobs that he offered him a summer job working on the Hewlett-Packard assembly line.Source
