When did Ryan Seacrest start hosting "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve"?

"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" has been the countdown king for over three decades, and for many people, Dick Clark himself is synonymous with the ball drop in Times Square. It kinda felt like he'd be there forever, but eventually Clark joined forces with his younger competition. When did Ryan Seacrest start hosting "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve"?

Correct Answer: 2005
(Source)Nobody expected Clark to give up his spot easily. Even after his stroke in 2004 when Regis Philbin had to fill in for him, ABC was quick to announce Clark would be back next time with a new co-host. Over on Fox, Seacrest had been hosting the only real challenger to Clark's New Year's Eve special (and calling it a challenger is still a real stretch), so when ABC gave Seacrest the opportunity to jump ship and team up with Clark, he took it.
