The state-of-the-art computer used for 1982's Tron had how much memory?

1982 was a time when computers were seemingly on the verge of making lots of jobs obsolete and possibly even taking control of humanity in some very sinister ways. Luckily, today we’re totally past that!
Even though it’s still full of practical effects, Tron was one of the first movies to lean heavily into computer-generated graphics — in turn requiring an unprecedented amount of computing power.
Those Light Cycles ain’t gonna render themselves. And the FX team used cutting-edge equipment to get it done.
But just how much computing power did it take? The answer (if you don’t know it already), may intrigue you.

Correct Answer: 2MB
The answer is: 2 MB. The computer used for all of Tron’s dazzling special effects had just 2MB of memory and a measly 330GB of storage. For comparison, that’s about 6.6% of the total storage space in the very first iPod. Many Disney animators refused to work on the project because they were scared computers would put them out of business. They weren’t wrong. 22 years later, Disney shuttered its hand-drawn animation studio. Ironically, it was Pixar head John Lasseter who eventually brought hand-drawn production back.Source
