"Underdog" premiered on which network?

Ad executives created "Underdog" to sell General Mills cereal, so the fact that anyone remembers it fondly is kind of a miracle. The show featured a shoeshine pup who transformed into a super dog and spoke entirely in rhyming couplets, and kids ate it (and the cereal) up. Which network did "Underdog" premiere on?
▼
Correct Answer: NBC
(Source)A shoeshiner who ducks into a phone booth and emerges as a superhero sounds like a Superman parody, and that's because it absolutely was. NBC's homage was so shameless that when Underdog flew overhead, citizens would shout "It's a plane! It's a bird! It's a frog!" I don't know who's looking up and guessing a frog, but I don't know who'd look up and expect a dog. The show kept kids entertained even when it jumped to CBS a few years later, and stayed popular enough that you could still find reruns airing on Boomerang through 2007.
