Sharks have been the ocean's apex predators for over 400 million years, striking fear into everything from tiny fish to beachgoers worldwide. These creatures rarely gang up, but when they do, the English language has a term to describe the gathering. What do you call a group of sharks?
▼
Correct Answer: A shiver
(Source)While sharks are fish and fish travel in schools, a group of sharks is called a "shiver." It's the most fitting collective noun in the entire animal kingdom because a shiver is exactly what I would feel if I saw a shiver of sharks. It's like naming a group of spiders "a nightmare" or calling a bunch of wasps "a nope." While dolphins get the friendly-sounding "pod" and wolves get the cool "pack," sharks earned their name through our involuntary human response to seeing them.
