What is the wolf named in "Dances with Wolves"?

Kevin Costner's "Dances with Wolves" let viewers watch Lieutenant John Dunbar as he formed one of cinema's most memorable human-animal friendships. Alone at a fort, he's visited every day by a wolf that he eventually names, and their interactions are how Dunbar gets his own name from the Sioux tribe. What is the wolf named in "Dances with Wolves"?
▼
Correct Answer: Two Socks
(Source)In an epic tale of great acting, "Dancing with Wolves" required two wolves to play "Two Socks" and required Costner to get along with both of them despite telling reporters he hated them. In the movie, the Sioux tribe watched Dunbar and Two Socks chase each other around and decide to give him the name that translated to "Dances With Wolves." Technically, since Dunbar was only playing with one wolf at a time, it really should've been "Dances With Wolf." The wolf became such a central part of the story that his tragic fate near the end hits (this isn't a spoiler it's been 35 years) harder than most human character deaths. Since neither of the wolves could howl on cue, the filmmakers brought in a third wolf just to provide the howling sounds at the end. So with three wolves total playing one character, I guess "Dances With Wolves" was the right title after all.
