When a name in a story is supposed to reflect personalities and roles, you'd think a group of teens carrying around switchblades would have a guy named Switchblade but nope. And while "Two-bit" was a nickname, Ponyboy and Sodapop were actual birth certificate names. Imagine being a nurse and asking a mother what she wants to name her new bundle of joy and she simply says "Sodapop." Let's just say I'm glad author S. E. Hinton didn't get to name me.
