Basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1947) led UCLA to three consecutive NCAA championships from 1967 to 1969 before the Milwaukee Bucks took him first overall in the 1969 draft. He won six NBA titles and a record six MVP awards across stints with the Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers and retired in 1989 as the league's all-time scoring leader.

Football coach Bill Belichick (1952) won two Super Bowls as defensive coordinator of the New York Giants before taking over the Cleveland Browns in 1991. He coached the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2023 and won six more Super Bowls, then took the head coaching job at the University of North Carolina in December 2024.
