Actor Colin Firth (1960) turned up in a wet shirt as Mr. Darcy on "Pride and Prejudice" and the role made him a star, then took home Best Actor as King George VI in "The King's Speech." He's played Mark Darcy through the "Bridget Jones" films, and this year he joined "Young Sherlock" and "Disclosure Day."

Actor Ryan Phillippe (1974) broke through as television's first openly gay teenage character on "One Life to Live," then became a late-1990s fixture through "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Cruel Intentions." He headlined "Shooter" on USA Network, and this year he led both chapters of "One Mile."

Ballerina Misty Copeland (1982) became the first Black woman named a principal dancer in American Ballet Theatre's 75-year history, days after her New York debut as Odette and Odile in "Swan Lake." She took her farewell bow at ABT's fall gala last year and has since turned novelist with "Star Fire Academy: Firebird Waltz."
