How did George Miller raise the money to make the original Mad Max in 1979?

If there’s ever an apocalyptic event, and I’m around for it, AND I survive it, you can bet on one thing: I’ll immediately start wearing a leather vest with spikes on it and find a late ‘70s muscle car to drive around.
1979’s Mad Max, which takes place “a few years from now” according to the opening, is one of those movies that executed the hell out of an incredibly strong vision. Director George Miller and producer Byron Kennedy essentially invented an entire genre, and hell, they’re still putting out movies from the franchise — ones that are getting nominated for Academy Awards.
George Miller believed so strongly in his vision that when he couldn’t raise enough outside money to make the movie, he raised it his damn self. What job did he work to get the funds together to make the original Mad Max?

Correct Answer: Working as a doctor
The answer is: Working as a doctor. Mad Max has established itself as an undeniable cult classic, but not everyone shared in George Miller’s bold vision of a violent dystopian near-future. Miller was unable to generate enough cash to get his production off the ground from outside financiers. George was already working in an Australian emergency room as a doctor while writing Mad Max, so he decided to use the money he made stitching people up to create the gloriously gruesome action extravaganza that would go on to spawn a franchise that’s still going strong.Source
