Correct Answer: From outer space
The answer is: From outer space. Gaynor’s empowering disco hit was written by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris. Although the song is about overcoming a broken romantic relationship, it was inspired by Fekaris’ firing from Motown Records after seven years as their songwriter. Shortly after the termination, he heard his own music on TV by chance and thought, “I will survive!” The song topped the charts in 1979 and reached platinum status. Today it’s preserved by the Library of Congress as a “culturally, historically, or artistically significant” recording. Source
