
In a galaxy far, far away—aka Hollywood—movies of the science fiction genre rarely get their due recognition from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Sure, they’ll get a token “best sound and visual editing that’s mixed and then re-edited” type of technical award, sometimes a few, but rarely do they see nominations in the “big” categories—stuff like Best Picture, Best Actor, etc., always seems to go to some “serious” movie where the characters don’t travel through hyperspace even ONCE.
But when Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope came out in 1977 (then simply known as Star Wars) it was too big to ignore.
