How many PB&Js does the average person eat in their lifetime?
The first known recipe for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich dates back to 1901, when Julia Davis Chandler published it in the Boston Cooking School Magazine of Culinary Science and Domestic Economics. As far as she knew, she made the whole thing up, initially using currant or crabapple jelly. Thank you Julia, truly.
Since then the duo of PB and J has become the de facto example of what an ideal combination should look like. In other words, there is nothing else in the world that goes together better than those two condiments.
Peanut allergy sufferers notwithstanding, everyone alive today has probably experienced a PB&J sandwich in some form or another. Yes, even those tribes in remote rainforests.
But how many PB&Js do we consume over the course of our lifetimes?
